My favorite thing in the world to draw is girls. I can never draw enough. I know I should vary my diet, especially if I want to be a comics artist, but it is so boring to draw dudes (no offense, dudes). :3

This portrait is a little inspired by Sugimoto from Sweet Blue Flowers. I wanted her to look like the type of girl you would fall in love with in an all girl's school--smart, aloof, a little abrasive, but when she looks at you with approval you would do anything to see that look again.

This is such a simple concept compared to some of your other works, but :wow:the colours are just so lush!

I hear you on that girl drawing thing. The body types/features just flow so much more smoothly.

Takako Shimura's drawings are super appealing (even if the characters lack variation). Have you read Hourou Musuko?

PS You totally upped the coolness factor here. The glasses/tie/sweater vest combo is way hip.

I absolutely agree, her storytelling is really wonderful. All her characters are completely endearing. Happy Go Lucky Days was a surprising deviation from her other works (the ones I know), it was pretty neat. And there were penises! Totally unexpected.

I have read Hourou Musuko, and also Happy Go Lucky Days! I really like her gentle storytelling style.

PS The outfit was partly inspired by Sugimoto's school uniform at the beginning of volume 2--the black jumper dress and tie and white blouse. I actually didn't like Sugimoto at first but now I find her touchingly young and vulnerable.

This is gorrrrrrrgeous! The colour choices are fantastic. I love how you've inked her hair, too. I've certainly fallen in love with her ... :)

Haha, I admit it's my type! Well, I wanted to combine elements of the boyish girl's school "prince", the indomitable student council president, and the elegant and stylish older girl, but maybe the Miu Miu collar and the geek-chic glasses were a bit too much? (Heheh, I just didn't want to draw a normal outfit for her.)

I live in Portland, but the one in Oregon! So no luck. :3

you have made success! haha she looks adorable, and that's definitely not a type I'd label as an ill one.
