Styled after Utagawa Kuniyoshi. Alucard fighting a (highly modified) Azaghal with the Crissaegrim weapon, in Castlevania: Symphony of the Night. This is the inverse castle area where everything's upside down. The background is mostly from the Black Marble Gallery area, so I took a bit of artistic license because the monsters there are pretty dull.

This was supposed to be a print for PAX 2010, but I didn't quite finish it in time. (I did, actually--forgoing a night's sleep and finishing it up in the car on the way, but then the printer said they were booked until the end of the one day I was at the con.)

You can get a print of this at my brand new Etsy store though!

P.S. Sorry if you saw the previous version--I changed my mind!

i love this game, and i love your style and color choice. the only thing i do have to say about this piece is that the swinging of alucards sword looks un-natural, and he looks like he is barely grasping it for someone who just created 5 different slices in his opponent. the sword is resting in the middle of the "swing action" white gusts as well, so i can't really tell if its on its way up or coming down.
otherwise truly beautiful work, i like the attention to details like the fairy in the back and a flame having just been extinguished with a heart floating from it, i just think the sword play needs a little finessing.

It is an unusual style to draw these kind of things, but nevertheless, the details and the depiction is brilliant!!!
